Simulators and international opportunities
“We develop simulators for the oil and gas industry,” Anne Eidissen tells us. KONGSBERG is a worldwide leading supplier of dynamic process simulators, and cooperates with major players in the oil and gas industry – for example Statoil and BP. The simulators are in place in both Norway and other countries, thus providing good opportunities for staff to work abroad for shorter or longer periods.
Combining work and maternity leave
But Anne Eidissen has not yet taken advantage of the opportunity to work abroad. With a relatively newborn son she is currently more interested in what KONGSBERG can offer her in her role as a young mother. At the moment she is working 50 per cent and taking 50 per cent maternity leave, which she thinks has been very successful. “KONGSBERG is concerned about the welfare of its employees. My job has been adapted to my situation from the very first day,” she says.
An informal and positive working environment
Anne Eidissen is also enthusiastic about the working environment in KONGSBERG. “We’re a small department. It’s easy to get to know people and to be noticed. You don’t get lost in the crowd! The environment is also good because we have a wide range of ages. There’s a lot of knowledge in the department, so there’s always an experienced “old-timer” to help you with professional problems,” she tells us. She also enjoys the social aspects – “And there’s also a good atmosphere. I like the fact that it’s never very formal here,” says Anne Eidissen.
