Simulator contract for MNOK 22.5 to Sweden
15.05.2007
Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace AS has signed a contract with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) to supply two simulator systems that will be used to train soldiers in the use of the CV90 Infantry Fighting Vehicle in the Swedish Army. The scope of the contract is MNOK 22.5.
The Simulation and Training Department of Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has signed the contract, which applies to classroom versions of a mobile container-based solution completed in 2005.
Team training
The simulator systems enable soldiers to acquire basic knowledge of the system and to hone their shooting skills. Moreover, the system includes functions for team training and tactical training. The system will be used in Sweden to train conscripts, and the previously delivered mobile version can also be used abroad in connection with international operations.
Important contract
"We consider this contract important verification that KONGSBERG's Simulation and Training products meet the standards and requirements set by the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration with a view to the development and delivery of this type of systems. We have great faith that this contract can help position us relative to several interesting opportunities for this type of products on the international arena", according to Rune Johannessen, programme manager for Simulation & Training at Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace.
