Sweden selects Norwegian Command and Control system for Nordic Battlegroup
FMV (The Swedish Defence Materiel Administration) have selected the Ground Based Air Defence Operation Centre (GBADOC) from Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace to ensure international interoperability of the Swedish led Nordic Battlegroup (NBG).
KONGSBERG has signed a contract valued at MNOK 20 with FMV for the delivery of a GBADOC for use during the Swedish Armed Forces NBG task 2008.
The GBADOC will provide the Swedish Armed Forces with a platform for interoperability with NATO and other international forces. The GBADOC will be upgraded to include Swedish national links for integration of the SAAB Ericsson Giraffe AMB radar and the RBS-70 Very Short Range Air Defence System, as well as higher echelon units.
The GBADOC will be delivered in 2007, and ready for deployment from 1 January 2008.
Sweden is the fourth country to introduce KONGSBERGs GBADOC for the command, control and coordination of air defence assets with international allied nations.
"The Swedish order reaffirms KONGSBERGs position as one of the world's leader in air defence command and control. The order confirms KONGSBERGs role as a supplier of NATO and international interoperability" states Eirik Lie, Executive Vice President, Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace.
