Kongsberg Norcontrol IT - Applied Radar Physics A.S.
Applied Radar Physics is a research and development company that specializes in radar technology and radar data processing. Our current portfolio ranges from video extraction and tracking to full polarimetry and real-time target classification.
Since its foundation in the year 2000, ARP has also completed a number of contracts in advanced SAR processing and participated in a number of radar collaborations. Foremost among them is our long standing relationship with FFI (the Norwegian Research Defense Establishment), with whom we are working on bi-static radar and target classification in SAR imaging. In addition, ARP is funding a PhD student at UniK for work on tracking and sensor fusion. Having been intimately involved in the development of the Hugin Autonomous Underwater Vehicle, UniK has a research group doing leading work in tracking.
In late 2003 ARP was acquired by Norcontrol IT, which by becoming the majority shareholder of ARP, is investing heavily in extraction and tracking technology. At that time, ARP relocated from Forskningsparken in Oslo to larger quarters in the Kjeller Teknologi Park, where we are also closer to our principal scientific collaborators. Our current priority is in product development for the VTS market.
